Why $85
This is a small-batch shirt, made to order by a technical-apparel shop. The art is based on original hand-painted work by Electra co-founder Heather Alvis, a painter of thirty years. Every sale supports Electra's work on Farm Solar Fit, a decision tool that helps farmers and ranchers see whether solar fits their property, and on what terms.
The painting
Pre-order through October 30 at the $78 launch price (regular $85). Ships in December.
End of a long ride. You have stopped at the top of the hill because the sky went pink and orange all at once, and below you is a city that got it right. Solar on the rooftops, turbines turning on the ridge, a clean river running through the middle of it, and the mountains still white behind the skyline. The sun is enormous and low. This is the town every Electra venture is quietly aiming at: renewable power, wild edges, and clean water, all in one view.
The artwork wraps the whole shirt. Front: the rider and the bike at the overlook, the flowered hillside, and the city below with panels on the roofs. Back: the oversize sun dropping behind the range, three turbines on the ridge, and the river winding under a bridge out to the bay. Sleeves carry the wildflowers and the far shoreline out to your wrists, and the hood is the deep blue of the sky overhead just after sunset.
